Our business water services

A better deal starts with the whole bill.

A competitive tariff is only part of the picture. We also look at billing accuracy, consumption and the charges your business should be paying.

Procurement

We compare licensed retailers across England and Scotland to find competitive water and wastewater deals for your business.

Water bill audit

We check for rateable value errors, incorrect meter readings, wrong drainage charges and other billing mistakes that can go unnoticed.

Water efficiency

Consumption analysis, leak detection support and practical efficiency advice help reduce water costs beyond a retailer switch.

Dispute resolution

If your retailer or wholesaler has overcharged you or disputed a reading, we manage the formal dispute process on your behalf.

Know what you are paying for

Check the charges, not just the total.

If you have not switched since England’s market opened in 2017, you may still be on a default tariff. Comparing retailers is a useful starting point, but an accurate bill matters just as much.

Your water use does not explain every charge. Wastewater, surface water drainage and highways drainage can also contribute to the amount you pay.

Bring your latest bill

It helps us identify your supply, understand your current charges and start a meaningful comparison. Keep any meter readings or disputed correspondence handy too.

Reviewing other utilities? We can also help you compare business energy.

Wholesalers and retailers

Change who bills you, not who supplies your water.

The market separates physical infrastructure from retail service. Switching retailer does not change the pipes or the water reaching your premises.

Wholesaler: stays the same

  • Maintains the pipe network and physical supply to your premises.
  • Treats wastewater and returns it to the environment.
  • Is determined by your area, not chosen by you. In England, wholesalers are regulated by Ofwat.

Retailer: your choice

  • Handles billing, invoicing and account management.
  • Arranges meter readings and provides customer service.
  • Competes on price and service, giving you an opportunity to compare alternatives.

Use less. Waste less.

Water efficiency that helps cut business costs.

A better tariff reduces what you pay for water. Better water management tackles how much you use. We combine consumption analysis with leak detection support and efficiency advice.

  • Understand your baseline

Compare meter readings over time, allowing for changes in occupancy, trading hours or production.

  • Investigate unexpected use

Unexplained increases or consumption outside operating hours can be a reason to check for leaks.

  • Measure the improvement

Review consumption after repairs or efficiency changes. Use actual readings to track progress rather than assuming a saving.

Planning a move or a new premises?

Review water use early, alongside your wider utility needs. Our new business energy connection guide covers the energy side of getting connected.

Your supply point reference

Find your SPID. Start your comparison.

A Supply Point ID, or SPID, identifies your business water supply point. It appears on your water bill and is used to manage your account in the market. In England, the market operator is MOSL.

England SPIDs

A 10-digit core number with a suffix, for example 3000000000W11 or 3000000000S11. W identifies water and S identifies sewerage.

Each supply point has its own reference, so your business may have more than one.

Scotland SPIDs

Scottish SPIDs use an 8-digit number. The market opened in 2008 and has a similar wholesaler and retailer structure, with retailers including Business Stream.

Multiple supply points

Multi-site businesses often have a SPID for each site. We consolidate billing across supply points: one account, one bill, one adviser.

How to switch

A clear route to your next water contract.

We start with your supply details, compare the available options and help you make an informed decision. There is no obligation to proceed.

  1. Step 01

    Share your details

Send your SPID, company name or premises address. If you cannot find your SPID, give us your address and we will locate it.

  2. Step 02

    Authorise the review

Sign a one-page Letter of Authority so we can access market data and request quotes. It must be on letterhead, dated and signed.

  3. Step 03

    Compare your options

We access live rates from licensed retailers in your area and present a clear comparison with our recommendation.

  4. Step 04

    Choose your next step

Review the price, service and contract terms before deciding. If you choose to switch retailer, your physical water supply stays the same.

Water questions answered

Before you switch.

Clear answers about eligibility, supply and the information we need to get started.

Can every UK business switch water retailer?
Our retailer comparison covers England and Scotland. Eligibility depends on your premises and the market rules where you operate. Share your address so we can check the options for your business rather than assuming the same rules apply throughout the UK.
Will switching interrupt my water supply?
Switching retailer does not change your physical water supply. Your wholesaler continues to maintain the network, while your new retailer takes responsibility for billing and customer service.
What if I cannot find my SPID?
It is normally on your water bill. If you cannot locate it, send us your company name or premises address. We can help identify the supply and will need a signed Letter of Authority to access market data and request quotes.
Can I reduce costs without switching?
Yes, there may be opportunities through billing corrections or reduced consumption. A bill audit can identify incorrect charges, while consumption analysis and leak detection support can help you understand avoidable water use.
